Are we preparing our CMSD students for the high-tech world of tomorrow? Let’s not debate that question. Instead, let’s start with teaching them about AI.
As an article in The Los Angeles Times put it: It’s clear that our ideas about intelligence have evolved over time as the skills deemed necessary for survival and success have changed. Just think about the way kids roll their eyes when their parents have a hard time understanding technology. Those young folks instinctively grasp what to us seems foreign and hopelessly confounding.
So for those young folks, we need to let them know what AI is, don’t we? What can it do for them?
First, Artificial Intelligent is technology, pure and simple. It’s the technology of today — and of tomorrow. It uses computer systems to simulate human intelligence, enabling machines to perform tasks like learning, problem-solving and decision-making by analyzing data and recognizing patterns. AI encompasses fields such as maching learning, deep learning and natural language processing with applications that range from everyday tools like voice assistants and recommendation engines to advanced systems in healthcare, transportation and finance.
Again, all of this is about tomorrow. Let ‘s move them closer to AI mastery.
